G99 knocked back by DNO - trying understand proposed "reinforcemen"

  • I readily admit to having another of sympathy with @1961Nick's view.

There would obviously be potential issues with large generators designed to export to the grid and also numerous small generators such as 10kW all connected on the same phase.

However where there are 'green' systems that that will not export over and above the G98 3.68kW automatic acceptance levels and provide local storage they work to provide less stress on the grid and help meet our zero carbon aims.

That must be a good reason to a more relaxed need for approval even if it means a secondary method to limit export.

The issue seems to be that they don't trust export limiting functions.

For example my original design was 5kW inverter, and 5kW battery configured not to export.  SSEN assessed that as 5kW export, which must not exceed 1.3% voltage rise. But they also assess the impact of export at the full system size (10kW) and that must not exceed 2.3%

Where would I look to find an AC coupled battery on a supply only basis? Any installer is going to resist.

The versatility & spec for this inverter is impressive along with excellent connectivity. It's pretty new so not many reviews yet. It features export limitation which might be advantageous to your circumstances?

The Pylontech US5000C retails for about £1400 & you can choose from multiple suppliers.

    Personally, I'd suggest https://www.bimblesolar.com/ongrid/retrofit-batterystorage
I've not purchased battery storage from them but I have given them two moderate-sized orders totalling ~£1k of business and they've been entirely satisfactory.
If they don't have the bundle you want, you can mix 'n' match - and they respond well to email queries.
