Delivery upset

The delivery driver for an online shop via Sainsbury's abused me at my doorstep and promptly took my shopping away. He reported the incident on his return to shop saying I abused him and they will do nothing to help me over my shock and vulnerability following this delivery. I am disabled and was sitting in my flat watching TV beforehand so why would I verbally attack a delivery driver? Have you ever had a bad delivery driver?

I have heard of some delivery people who have refused to leave things like alcohol if the person ordering cannot prove who they are and that they are old enough to drink.  Sometimes this will seem obvious to you or I - if we live alone of course we're the one that did the order or if we're obviously well beyond the first flush of youth why should we show ID to prove we're over 21 (or whatever the drinking age is...).  A perceived disagreement from the driver's point of view may have escalated due to him/her having had a completely rotten day.

Hope you get it sorted ok.

  • First, there are two sides to every story. Second, in all my online bi-weekly grocery deliveries over  a decade, I have found the drivers' cheerfulness and efficiency to be the company's best advert, whether it be Ocado, Asda, Waitrose or Sainsbury. As to the length of time it takes to answer the driver's buzz or knock on the door, I have sometimes taken ages to view my security camera and answer my entry phone because I am in the bathroom or in the middle of an intricate cooking manoeuvre -----and not one single driver has ever shown irritation, even when they have had to phone me to double check that I am available. I can only recount my own experiences of these hard-working drivers who are  welcome visitors to my front door several times a week.

Often, I get a text or call shortly before the delivery especially from Ocado and ASDA. Never had a grumpy driver.
