Hi
Firstly, apologies if I get some of the terminology wrong but I need some more advice please.
My Brother had his Bankruptcy Order granted on 02/08/2023 and has been contacted for a cpl of pieces of further information but not much. Today he received an email which said after reviewing all the information they saw no need to interview him and enclosed some forms to be signed and returned.
Can anyone advise on when/if he will be notified of whether he has an IPA to pay. He's currently stressed about spending any necessary money as he thinks he needs to be told how much he has to live on. Is this the case with all bankrupt parties?
Thank you again for your help!

First of all, does he work at the moment?0

Yes but recently single and his income just about covers his living expenses with a surplus of about £10 per month.0

I feel I am in a very similar position to your brother! I was made bankrupt on the 18th July. I have had a telephone interview with an examiner and gone through reasons for debts and sent over more evidence to them and I’ve had a letter back from the examiner to say they do not need to interview me further. I have signed and sent back some forms to them. I’ve made a request to be able to keep driving (I’m currently borrowing a car but have requested to keep doing this and having the allowance in my budget for insurance etc) but have heard nothing back. However I haven’t heard anything about an ipa, the stress it’s causing me is phenomenal! I’m constantly checking my emails to see if I they have sent anything new along! I think whether I get one or not will depend on whether they let me budget for the car etc, if they say no then I’ll likely have an ipa if they say yes you can then I might not. It’s horrible not knowing and waiting. Hope me and your brother hear from them soon!0

It's an incredibly long process at the moment, as I found out. I think they are just inundated at the moment and it's just taking them ages to get around to people. When they were setting up my IPA, they were pretty flexible (and it happened quite a while after my interview), so they allowed me to start it a month later than planned due to a lower take home for one month due to illness. I would say, try not to worry and stress, but I know I did until I finally found out what was happening.

For an IPA to be granted, he would need to have at least £20 disposable income per month.
You say he only has £10, so in that case he should escape any further penalty.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
