Mortgage advice with a DMP (ITP)

Hi can anyboyd advise me please - I have 9 years left on a mortgage with Halifax as tennant in common with my mum - in the event of death we leave it to each other - the reason it is tennants in common was that the house was originally paid off and my mums late husband had put the tennant in common in place to protect me somewhat- and we remortgaged many years ago to do the house up etc house worth 210,000 and mortgage left to pay 54000. I am on a DMP and have been for 12 years still owe 7500 and aiming to pay it off by Christmas - originally paying a low amount to step change but as my hours increased at work and with every payrise I can now afford to pay it off quicker - my fear is that should anything happen to my mum who is 77yrs old will I be able to re-mortgage in my name only don't think Halifax will allow me to remortgage if I had to go through a sole check with them as some of the debt on the DMP is a Halifax overdraft - My annual wage is 26,200 - I worry that I will not be able to get a mortgage due to the DMP - no defaults or anything showing on credit files is this because they drop off after 6 yrs? also says payment history of paying bills on time says excellent- it does however suggest I get a credit card that will improve my credit score further - which I could do and use for shopping and pay off monthly to show I can control my debt now - Can anyone advise will someone offer me a mortgage in my name only in the event god forbid anything should happen to my mum before the end of the term - I do get extremely anxious worrying about not being able to get a mortgage in my name only
