Mortgage for house with annexe

We have had our offer accepted on a house with an annexe. The annexe is a 2 bed cottage with its own address, council tax band etc. Our mortgage broker is struggling to find a lender. Is this a common occurrence? Can anyone offer any advice on this please? Thanks in advance

Whilst this situation is not common, it is often a problem, more so if there is a separate Council Tax Listing.
A lender will not want you to buy the whole on a residential mortgage and then find you let out the cottage for rental.
There will be solutions, leave it with your Broker, that is their job.I am a Mortgage Broker
