The problem is EVERYTHING has to have a deadline, even if it's just a minor thing. We have a 2 and a half hour meeting on a Monday and now have a mid week meeting. we go through the whole team and people are given actions they have to put a deadline on so each week the work just builds up, most of it not really helping.
My previous role I was just allowed to get on with the job and manage what i was doing myself and I brought the company some really good results. So because I'm getting given more and more I can't see how I can manage it. Everything is a priority and I went through a few things with my boss saying well I need to focus on this, to which he said yes that's a priority, then I went through 4-5 other things, all a priority...
I guess their second solution is to work out of hours, there is a real culture for this in the business, people working over weekends etc but I'm not going there, if there is an emergency or a big project fine, but not just becasue my workload is too high.0 -
