I was feeling very ill today and with a bad headache so I stayed in bed all day

I did very early tell my line manager I don't be able to make it

Unfortunately they said I had to go on a first aid course which is paid for

What happens next?

Bit of a confusing post title @Greg89.

Hope you are feeling better now.

I presume you mean will you have to pay for the cost of the course, the answer is "it depends", that will come down to your contract and employee handbook, it could be yes, it could be no, it could be that you have to pay for the course separately as a requirement of your employment (eg. you must remain first aid qualified to keep your job and you did not attend the company provided course). Remember that if you have been there less than two years they can show you the door at any time, and even if not being difficult probably is not worth it.

I have also asked for this to be moved to Employment from Debt Free Wanabee, as that would be much more appropriate.

Are you suggesting that work will make you pay for the course as you didn't attend??  Were they unable to send someone else?  Where I worked there was a queue of people who wanted to attend these and not enough places on them for all.

Not sure still what you are actually asking about.

The line manager said he will see what he can do

However I'm still ill and I'll go into work poorly

I even asked for my holidays booked to be cancelled

Still not clear what the issue is. Are you saying your line manager has told you you'll need to go on a first aid course at a later date which the employer will pay for, or that you'll have to pay for it because you missed the one yesterday?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
