Turn off the engine, reduce emissions

Dear Forum members,  I know that people do care about it in Switzerland, but not in the UK.  I often see people who unnecessary idle their engines while waiting, talking, smoking, phoning...   I am not sure where to start raising people awareness. I am not a "just stop oil" activist,  but let us show that we do care  of our planet doing small simple things. 
I dream of someone like Martin Lewis who could mention it on TV.
