Leaving the car and using the rucksack is excellent. Exercise done, plus saving petrol. Win, win.
Watching alcohol too...I can really see your everyday awareness altering.
If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

    Emergency fund 100/1000
    Buffer fund 0/100
    Debt Free (again) 25/072025
  • Some great things you've done here. Very inspiring.
And like doingitanyway said, everyday awareness altering, keep it up. I'm really rooting for you to hit your goals and smash them out the park!
Working on getting rid of my debt FOREVER
  • Hi All, Hope you've had a wonderful day!

Hi Doingitanyway & Debt_smashing <3<3 Thank you so much, I really appreciate the support :):)

Its still pretty busy at work and I haven't really spent much in the last couple of days. I did get DD some colouring pens, paints, paper and a ice lolly as she's been a really good girl especially when I was poorly bless her. I confess I treated myself too I got a bubble bath and a candle- a little luxury (under £3..well worth it)..I've been keeping spends on basic...I get paid this Friday and we are running on low on everything. I just need to make it through tomorrow and we can reload. I've managed to put an additional £120 into the emergency fund. I have a savings jar for Christmas..one of those 2p challenge things, I started but didn't quite stick to- I've now made this part of the emergency fund. I still have to break open the jar and pay it into the bank but counting it in.  I figured I can replace this once I get the Debt 3 & 4 cleared ticked off. An emergency fund trumps the Xmas sinking fund for me, although I love everything Christmas.

I will try to update with August/September budget tomorrow evening but I'm happy to report my tracker shows I  managed to make debt payments of £1844 this month, I need to update my signature, so will do that tomorrow evening too.

Probably should sleep as I have a really early start. I hope you all sleep well!

    Goodnight, MM x

  • Well done. How have you monitored the no vape time. Have you just got an app that records how long since you last did it. Have a friend who is alcoholic. They can't just stop completely as that's not safe but am trying to support them to cut down.

Eventually a time log might be beneficial to them to.

Some fantastic changes made especially no vaping. £1844 of the debts is wonderful and the odd little treat is fine. If you can keep up that level of debt repayment the debt will be gone in no time then you will have all that spare income to save/invest or spend.

  • Hi! Well done on deciding to crack on with getting it paid off. I was thinking a similar thing with my debt. I have a loan of £11k and would like to have it paid off by next autumn. Are all your debts on 0% cards?

We were also in our early 40s when we started tackling our debts (£35k at its worst). It's never too late to start budgeting properly. Having been in debt from the age of 19 (partner too), learning to live within our means was game changing for us. No bag of impulse-bought shopping could ever make me feel as good as being debt-free. Stick with it & you will get there. Think of it as building a more secure future for yourself & your daughter.
    Best wishes,

Hi NeverendingDMP, Thank you for your support, I use the escape the vape app, its free. It logs the number of days sine I've vaped, the number of vapes avoided, the amount of money I've saved. It also give you motivation, tells you what's happening in your body whilst detoxing and you get badges when you hit milestones. I hope your friend finds it useful...Its great that you are supporting them :) I wish them lots of luck

    Hi Enthusiasticsaver :)

Thank you so much. I'm hoping I can keep it up at this level, Id like to be debt free as soon as possible. I just keep thinking on how wonderful it would be to be able to keep my money. I'd like to pay it off and have a 6-month emergency fund then onto my deposit - I dream of a little flat, nothing fancy just a two bedroom with a garden for my DD to play.. some investments would be great too :)
