Do I need a solicitor when paying off my mortgage with Santander?

Hi,
I am about to pay off my mortgage early with Santander and trying to find out, if I need a solicitor for anything, or will Santander sort everything out?
Also, if I need a solicitor, what they will need to do and how much it may cost? On internet people say that sometimes you need solicitor, sometimes you don't or you can try DIY. Obviously I don't want to potentially mess it up myself as it is a big deal but if it just a matter of filling in a form or something, maybe I can manage?
Any help much appreciated!
Thank you!

My mortgage wasn't with Santander admittedly, but paying it off went like this:
1) I asked my lender for a redemption figure and told them the date I was looking to clear the balance (so that they could calculate the interest correctly)
2) They sent me the figure
3) I called them and paid the quoted amount by debit card
4) They wrote and said they would be notifying the Land Registry that they were releasing the charge
It really was that straightforward and anti-climactic! There was never any mention of solicitors (by either them or me)
Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!1 -
Like @South_coast we called, got a redemption figure for that day, logged into the lenders website and made the redemption figure payment.
Got a letter from the lender about a week later confirming mortgage account closed. No solicitors involved.0
