Hi all, I'm aware this may sound like a silly question to some, but this has been a very very long process and I don't want to jeopardise anything.

We are hoping to complete in the next few weeks will need broadband in our new home asap as other half works from home. I'm aware when you open a broadband account they do a credit search, so i was to pre-order the broadband once we exchange is that credit search going to affect our mortgage offer if for some reason they look again at our credit history before completion?

If anyone has a temporary plan B they have used broadband wise that would be great :)

I'm not sure if a broadband contract would scupper a mortgage, but an alternative would be a mobile hotspot from your handset subject to your normal data allowance.

If a short term unlimited plan is needed, Smarty might fit the bill as they don't require credit checks and is purchased via card rather than direct debit.

Anything requiring a hard credit search is best avoided until after completion.

Do you not have broadband at your current property that you could move to the new place? Surely this won’t require a credit check?

Ah ok, assuming they don’t make you enter a new contract an option might be to continue using the current supplier then look for a new after completion?

I arranged my broadband after exchange but prior to completion.  I didn't think anything of it until afterwards, then got a bit scared.  But nothing untoward happened.  In hindsight I would probably have waited.  On the plus side, I had broadband the day I moved in.
