IKEA's Ektorp sofa 'cushions' eaily replaced?

Hi,

I need to buy a sofa and I'm on a budget.

I've always liked IKEA's Ektorp range for its durability, simplicity and most important replaceability.

I know you can buy new covers either from IKEA themselves or third-parties but what about the cushions themselves?

I know it's possible to make your own if you really wanted to but does anyone know if you can buy off-the-shelf ones? Has anyone had any experience with this?

In fact, does anyone know a better alternative to the Ektorp range?

I need a sofa with replaceable cushions because I'm sure you know, after a while, they start to compact and look awful. I currently have a white leather electric reclining sofa that was lovely when I first got it but rapidly started to look old as the seating and back support cushions started to compact and you can't replace them unless you're an upholsterer.

I sit on my side a lot and my wife who is a lot lighter than me does not. As you can imagine, this makes the sofa look worse and you can't swap the cushions over.

I need one where you can replace parts that are either worn or damaged, just like a car I suppose.

I would be grateful for any advice or recommendations.

Thank you

I had an Ektorp sofa in 2003 and replaced in 2020 and they are very different. The seat cushions are horrible compared to the originals and I'm planning on replacing these ones with feather bespoke versions.

That's interesting, sounds like they've compromised on the quality to either increase their profit margins or keep the price low.

Maybe there are third-party sellers who sell off-the-shelf cushions that are better than IKEA's?

    Thanks for your opinion.
