If this is in the wrong subforum forgive me, admins please advise. It seems as good a place as any for the subject matter.
I have been the sole occupant of my home for some decades. A few weeks ago I received mail from the NHS addressed to my home but to someone with an entirely different name. I ticked the "no longer at this address" box, added a note to say "never has been at this address" and posted it back.
More recently I've received a letter from the DWP addressed to the same person. I have returned it with a slightly stronger worded note.
The implication, of course, is that a person unknown has registered themselves with various official bodies using my address. The consequent concern is that the next step will be loans/credit cards/other debt registered to my address.
My question: is there a way to pre-empt this - effectively "head it off at the pass"? A central body that I can notify? I suspect that I already know the answer but thought I'd ask the good people here.

No. But no cause for concern.
Either just return to sender or bin them.0 -
check your credit file to see if anyone has applied for anything in your name, possibly with them as a secondary on the account.
it could simply be that someone living in the same postcode with a similar address has filled something out incorrectly. So you are at 19 Moose Road and they are at 19 Moose Close.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
