Morning nmlc and thanks for starting us off x Enjoy your days off.
I'm WFH today. Taking DDad to DSis tonight as they are off to the Lake District tomorrow and a week. We think his hearing aid has broken as he's incredibly deaf. Frustrating for all concerned!
We had Kosharry last night which was a new recipe and turned out a bit spicy. 4 portions in the freezer for work lunches though. Tonight is grilled salmon with lime, chilli and soy topping served with pak choi.
I am collecting my sewing machine today - had it serviced for the first time - have only owned it 26 years(!) The shop called and said "your machine is ready to come home..." like it was a favourite child or something! I plan to take a sewing machine drivers licence course with a view to using it for soft furnishings. I just need to get my confidence up.
BFF and her DH are coming tomorrow and staying over, so need to strip the bed and de-Daddyfy the spare room for them. We are going out for dinner then to a pub with a live band.
I have an I/V for a new job on Monday. Have been looking despite not having a firm VR decision yet. No harm in going for the I/V and getting some practice in, although the role does sound interesting.
Have a good everyone

Morning folks - what a bright and chilly start to the day. Heavy rain is in the forecast so I'll make the most of the dry parts.Yesterday I had a BIG MSE win. My car insurance renewal came in at nearly £600, up from £400 last year. I used the MSE tool to get more quotes and found that my current provider offered me the exact same insurance for just under £375 - a saving of over £220! When I phoned up the agent checked very carefully that all the details I had entered online matched what they had documented. Result! So my insurance for the coming year is even less than last year. This morning I've got an early appointment with the practice nurse, more BP testing, and then I'm heading up to do some shopping before the threatened rain arrives.Coxy - enjoy your sewing machine and please post up some photos of your creations when done.Scarlet - welcome back from your time away. Yes, I did have a small worry about you disappearing.Hugs to our poorlies, safe travels for those heading away or coming back. Happy Friday to all.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's fine here just now but, after two nice days, the blooming rain is due back again later. What a wet summer we are having.
Yesterday ended up a very tiring day and, unusual for me, I actually slept in this morning! I made my planned little trip along the valley and had just got home when DD rang to see if I fancied a run out with her and the DGDs. Nowhere exciting, just an indoor shopping arcade as the girls were after summer jackets. Sound easy? Wrong! We must have trawled every rack in every store before they finally found what they wanted and I crawled back through the door at 8.30 exhausted! If the centre didn't close at 7 pm it would have probably been later!
Today is a stay at home day with the excitement of the Friday Tidy in store. A dust and vac up and down and I really must clean the front door and it's surroundings as it's a disgrace after all the wind and rain we have had.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. COXY good luck for Monday if you are not back over the w/e. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -

Morning All
Lovely bright, sunny and warm morning here, the washing will be going out very soon.
I had a great time in NL but developed a sore throat on Sunday that has turned into a really snotty cold so feeling a bit blurgh.
DS1 picked me up from the airport on Tuesday with the children in the car, he dropped us home and headed back to his place for an early work start on Wednesday. The DGC have been as good as gold but it's been quite full on expecially with the little one here too. We all went swimming yesterday, it was a bit mad but we survived! They will be going home tomorrow and I'm going to collapse in a big heap for a couple of days.
I'll catch up with all your news properly but wish you all a happy Friday and hope you're all well.
Take care. XX8 -
Morning all! It's sunny for the now, we'll see how long it lasts. The porch is done, my new orange front door is the swivelling of heads of the street
Windows are not yet finished though, a mix up at the manufacturers means I don't have the flush ones installed, so it's a wait of a few days for that. Not the window companys fault though, and I didn't notice until the bottom bay was installed..bit late by then, but then, I'd rather have all matching frames rather than a mix of white and grey while i wait for them. The change in light in the living room is incredible now it's just one pane of glass and not split into two on each one [ the old ones were split into big bottom, small top] Out today with new gardening friend to a local gc for fun and frolics, it does have a cafe, but its not a posh one like dobbies and they do have reasonably priced stuff. The blinds place is on the same industrial state so I'll stop there on the way home. Then out with OHs mum and sdad for tea, he's in Amsterdam with a friend but will be back tonight at some point. I have to be in when he does, he hasn't got a new door key
Scarlet, welcome back, glad you had a good time. Gers, big gold star for that one. I thought insurance companies were not supposed to offer you worse than what a new customer would get anyway these days or has that all fallen by the wayside? Coxy, deDaddifying...made me laugh..enjoy th band. And as long as you don't cut the material wrong to start with, it doesn't matter what you sew, it can always be taken apart. A good seam ripper, sharp, small and pointy is your best tool. [I've bought about six of those but only one of them is any good]] But practice is the only way to really get better so don't be afraid, show it who's boss! bella, pease stop swearing at me with all this talk of getting up early..I commiserate for you having to, I really do. All in a good cause though. TA, hope it doesn't rain too much for you. Izzy, thnks for the info yesterday, I will put it to good use today, Happy moving in anniversary! camelot, welcome back too and happy collapsingTake care all, enjoy the day...

Morning everyone
It must have been raining through the night but it's dry just now - the forecast is awful for the weekend - rain and more rain!
It's my last day at work today for 6 weeks and little ones last day at nursery - she starts big school in September. Our area is changing to a two tier system so she'll be in the first year group to stay at our school until she's 11 as it will change from a first school into a primary.
We have an early finish so I'm only there for a couple of hours. We had a lovely, though very loud party yesterday and the leavers all got their books and certificates.
Snoozer I hope it doesn't take long to get help for Esben's hearing.
Gers - well done on your big saving.
Better go as I need to go down to mam and dads to do his banking.
Hope everyone has a good day x10 -
Noo, just lost my post, this laptop touch pad is so sensitiveNot been on for days, Tues morning had to go and get dgs from school after he hurt himself and he stayed all day after we came home, DS2 came to check on him but he went back to work after as it seemed like just a nasty knock at playtime on his knee. He manged to stand up properly later on to make some choc krispie cakes
Wed morning I went to watch DGD last ever primary school concert which was lovely but a bit emotional. I thanked her teacher for all he's done , she's come on well this year.
Yesterday I hopped on the bus again to go to the marketa for my veg , and then hastily did an online order which has just been delivered. It was Mr M, couldn't get Oc or T delivery slots and as Morries had just given me a free 3 month del. pass thought I might as well- been busy and forgot to do the order earlier in the week. I still need to collect my meat from the butchers though. DGS finishes school earlier today, we won't see DGD as she has her leavers party tonight.Hope all are well, I'll read back later x

Hi everyone,
I've only just managed to sit down and take a few minutes, life with littlies is so busy.
I'm so glad that we now have a diagnosis for Esben, he manages to mask it so well that I was really the only one concerned that he wasn't hearing very well. So well that when he was walking down a corridor with the woman from the audiology place chatting away she told Laura she didn't think there was anything to be worried about but it turns out that he has quite severe hearing loss. They told Laura to get a type of balloon that you blow up with each nostril to drain the fluid from the tubes. Shockingly they can't get it on prescription which is no problem for us but some families wouldn't be able to afford the £12 it costs.
In other news Esther also had medical attention yesterday and is on antibiotics for chest and ear infections, I feel as if we're keeping the NHS going over the last couple of months and I'm ready for it to stop.
Have a good day.7
