Online Cheese Rip Off
Not_Impressed
I have recently looked to buy on line some Morrisons Mature Cheese, the block has a label of £5 on the packaging, however the online price is shown as £6.40. WHY? This a clear rip off and must surely be against the trade description act!

The cheese offer smells a bit ripe to me 😀2

worked for a large retailer for a number of years and we were told if a product comes in with a price say £5 it had to have a retail value of £5 or less, if more was illegal.
the same retailer for online sales had in their t&c's, products may vary from what you see online, the cheese in this case you get won't have the £5 price on it but they haven't updated the picture.
if you did order it and it had £5 on it and you paid more you would be due compensation.1 -
Indeed, given the times we live in budgets are tight, i would have hoped for better. ☹️0

As I mentioned above - where did you see it?
I've just had a scan of the Morrisons website - and there's no sign of a block of cheese for £6.40 showing a £5 price label.
In fact - can't find any of their cheeses marked up with an actual price on the packet?
I have a feeling you were probably looking through a third party supplier?

Amazon are free to set a different price compared to Morrisons supermarkets. If you don't like the price then don't buy it.
The price of £6.40 is clearly communicated before you purchase.0 -
I'm not the OP, who hasn't clarified where they saw the cheese for sale, or the brand though - perhaps @Not_Impressed could come back and confirm/clarify??jon81uk said:

Thanks for pointing to those - so it’s likely the op didn’t see it on the Morrisons website - and as mentioned it’s common for things to be more expensive through third party suppliers. Interestingly both of those items linked show as currently unavailable when I click them - wonder if that’s a regional thing, or whether someone has spotted the pricing issue and withdrawn them.Emmia said:

The Lake District Dairy Co. Extra Mature Cheddar 830g https://amzn.eu/d/94YVpvXIt’s similar to M&S and Ocado - you can buy the same product in an M&S store cheaper sometimes than through the Ocado app as both are separate companies and have separate promotions.Something labelled as a certain price should be a certain price - but for a third party to make profit, they probably are unable to do so - so is it better to have the product at a higher price and available - or just not available as there’s no profit to be made?3 -
Both items currently unavailable so I suspect the pricing anomaly may have been noticed. Currently £5 & £6 on Morrison's site.
