Morning everyone and thank you for starting us off nmlc
Weather is looking ok for today and I'm off to a friends for lunch.
Hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday.9 -
Morning folks and welcome back to nmlc, I hope that you've had a good break.I was a bit more productive yesterday, I didn't reach such heights of sloth as on Sunday. 😀 The farmer gave me some advice about my car repair so I'll get onto that today. It'll need to go to Glasgow and I'll have to hire a replacement. I feel happier having made the decision. My lovely friends in Darlington are having a nightmare time just now. Both of the husbands parents are ill, one with dementia and the other with major kidney function problems. My friend rang me last night so we talked for ages about the latest crisis, it's so awful for them and I can't do anything except soothe and listen.Today I have a short list of 'things to do'. Actually I'm feeling very disappointed, my delight in doing the aqua-cycling has turned. My right knee has become really sore making life even more difficult so I've stopped going. Another major rethink needed until my knee calms down. I've an appointment with the physio tomorrow which'll give me a chance to get more advice. I was so enjoying the classes. Grrr.Food will be yet more leftover takeaway. Yum!Still missing Scarlet after her brief message the other day, I hope that all is well. EDIT - found a post saying that she's off to a caravan in N Yorks for a few days. Phew!Izzy - did you see me wave on Thursday. 😂
JackieO - my fingers are getting cramp, they are so tightly crossed for you.
Happy Tuesday to all.9 -
Morning folks and thanks nmlc. I hope you had a good holiday. The sun is shining here but I don't suppose it will last. But I am thankful for small mercies as I would rather be here in our poor weather than in the extremes of south Europe. We were in Italy for DD's wedding when the last heatwave struck and the temps averaged the mid 40's every day. The air con was working overtime!
I am supposed to be going down town for my shipping order of meds from B**ts this morning but after a rubbish night I am feeling like a wet rag and might postpone until tomorrow. I'll have another coffee and see if it perks me up.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and getting better. Hope the holidaymakers are having fun. GERS I'm pleased your mind is now sorted about your car repairs. IZZY thank goodness the barking dog has gone home, I was worn out just thinking about you. JACKIE my fingers are crossed too. Take care all be safe xx

Morning all and welcome back nmlc x
Didn't get on yesterday as I was in the London office. I went to scope out some venues for a departmental offsite meeting in the morning. Didn't have my first cup of tea until 12noon, so was flagging somewhat. DDad has turned into Alf Garnett - cannot believe some of the things he comes out with. DH is getting pretty fed up, and I'm stuck in the middle!
WFH today and am dropping DDad in Sevenoaks - he will get the train back. I also need to arrange a Royal Mail collection from home as our local PO isn't taking any mail atm (for the last two weeks!) due to an issue with the back entrance where the vans go. Ridiculous really as it's on the High Street. Clearly taking post sacks through the front door is beyond them.
Glad you're feeling brighter @snoozer and exciting times ahead for Esben.
@London_1 I will PM you about a charity that works with London schools to encourage gardening x
Happy holidays @RedRuby1231 and hope the temperatures are bearable x
Glad you've made a decision about the car @Gers
Hope the windows are looking good @-taff
Dinner will be chilli con carne from the slow cooker. I'm going to the WI tonight for my second free trial. There's an orchid grower giving a speech - looking forward to it.
Have a good day all

Been asked to make 2 drawstring bags to hold ball pit balls for a local Church playgroup. Morning all; rather a dull looking day here.
Had a lovely trip to see a friend yesterday but I thought the pub meal was a little underwhelming. We did, however, enjoy a walk along The Thames, down to Sonning Lock, which was beautifully decorated with flowers and had electric lock gates. We saw a couple of boats going through; always fascinating to watch.
Today I need to stay home as there's ironing to do and cakes to make. We are going to a friend's funeral tomorrow and have been asked to bring cakes as a contribution to the food afterwards. It will be a Quaker service and I've looked it up so we know what to expect.
Have a good day everyone.9 -

Hi everyone,
TA, I hope you manage to get some rest today, take it easy.
Sympathy to those with difficult parents, it must be very wearing coping with them.
The visit from the teachers went well. Esben decided, without any prompting to do some colouring and spent 15 minutes of the visit sitting quietly by himself carefully colouring a butterfly. They were very impressed but I hope they haven't taken a false impression away about our bundle of energy lol.
I made dinner last night, a very unambitious veggie moussaka and salad. It was a Sainsbury's ready meal Brian bought last week while I was ill and was delicious.
Poor Laura is feeling very stressed, she is trying to set up her acupuncture business to open next month and is feeling the strain.
I shall be a bit more ambitious with dinner tonight - Madhur Jaffrey's Spiced chicken thighs with mushroom and beans. Steve has a golf competition this afternoon so he might be late home.
Have a good day.

Morning all...Four windows are in and looking good, they're doing the upstairs bay at the moment, fuelled by bacon sarnies and coffee..Got to feed a worker. Nice boys too and the company phoned me yesterday to see how it had gone, were they ok, were the windows ok, was I happy etc [ shout out to DL Windows of Calne, they're proper good. Every single person I've come into contact with has been polite, nice and good at their jobs]. Nothing else planned for today, maybe napping because yesterday was so stressful [ getting up on time, getting things ready, clearing things etc] that I was exhausted last night, went ot bed early and still snoozed the alarm five times. It really brought home to me how rubbish I am now. I am still unwilling to accept this, hence the overdoing of things.Gers, shame about your knee, hope the physio can help. Izzy, sorry, I got all my days and stuff mixed up and as you say, shame they didn't feel worried before they asked...
Coxy, that's a good idea about the charity, mabe Tayshan Hayden-Smith can help too, or Grow2know...I do enjoy seeing departures from the usual suspects of gardeners especially yougner ones. I fear we are quite set in our ways sometimes, and all the innovations of the past, no dig etc, might be rivalled by things we've never thought about..look at the move away from 'proper' gardening into what were weeds etc..I do love to learn new things. [sorry, I will leave my soapbox] snoozer, glad you're almost well, maybe Esben did it on purpose to lull them into a false sense of security
WL, I went on a boating holiday once, I found the ocks the best bit, I loved doing them. Jackie, good ot hear it went well, fingers crossed. Rosy, happy belated birthday to DS2..dp1, hope your week goes quickly! bella, say sayonara ot the housework and do nothing strenuous
Take care all!

Morning all. Lovely cycle ride along the prom this morning.
@-taff, we will be in your neck of the woods I suspect at the weekend, judging from your window people, DH doing a 50 mile bike ride from Wadworth Brewery in Devizes. A lovely part of the world we are considering relocating to from Kent.
take care all
