Are Capquest likely to reduce a settlement offer if I ask nicely?

Just a quick update - I'm still off work on half pay, Natwest & HSBC (First Direct) have both agreed to write off their balances so £13k has come off my total & I'm waiting for thus to show on my reports. Tesco are still considering, Cabot have refused for MBNA & Newday and Moorcroft are awaiting a response from Virgin.

Capquest said no to the write-off request, so I will send them a CCA letter next month, along with Cabot.

Another quick update - Tesco have agreed to write off their debt, in line with HSBC & Natwest (total of £19k)

Capquest have put me on hold for 12 months; the 2 Cabot accounts are on hold until February. These 3 total £16k and hopefully they will agree to silly F&F offers sometime next year.

This is great @Floss well done, I hope it's a weight lifted for you too! Did they ask for much proof in the way of Dr letters etc? A friend has been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour and I want to tell him to try similar with his creditors as he's so worried about what they'll do and them chasing his wife when he goes

I sent my write-off requests in writing to the creditors / DCAs. They all asked for further information to back up my requests and I sent redacted copies of consultant letters to my GP. It took about 3 months from first letter to agreement/ refusal.

Sadly your friend is more likely to get all their debts written off, I got 3 of the 6 written off.
