    It's a completely standard term of a mortgage anyway, not anything special to HSBC.

    Off the topic but could I ask the OP how long it took to get their offer from HSBC? I am currently waiting to hear from them re my own application.

    Full break down here but it took about 2 weeks from application submission to offer.

    I am at 21 days since submitting application and payslips, radio silence since then. L&C chased but told was in a queue.

    They do seem busy at the moment. I applied directly, but at the time turn around times were 3-5 days.

    They're now at 13.
