Best own brand nappies?

Hi all,
We've always bought pampers nappies for my daughter however since our new baby came a few months ago the cost is too extortionately expensive for two in nappies. I'd hoped to train my 3 year old before our new baby but we didn't have success so are looking for a way to cut the cost significantly on these.
What's the best alternative and deals people have used? It's going to add a lot back into our budget buy I'm worried they're going to be not as good and I'll be spending as much on cleaning equipment!
Thanks for the help!

I've used a few own-brands for my little ones and honestly couldn't tell you much difference between them. Lidl's own brand performs fine.2

After the first few months with our little one, we shifted from Pampers to Sainsbury's after seeing a Mumsnet thread. We have found Sainsbury's are way better! Fewer poonamis and can cope with a lot of wee overnight. Have a look on Mumsnet - from memory the recommended ones were Lidl and Sainsbury's.1

Thank you! We tried cloth nappies with my 7yo when she was a baby but she didn't get on with them. I might try again with my baby as having to always buy is very annoying, and we're always washing anyway.
Sadly we don't have a lidl nearby, possibly the only place in the country! But can definitely try sainsburys! My 3yo drinks loads so being able to hold up to lots of wee is a must!

I should have added we use cloth nappies too when we're not out and about. They are a bit of a pain when out, need changing more often and you need a bag to keep the dirties in.
With the cost of the initial outlay to buy the cloth nappies, paper liners (which survive a few washes) and the cost of additional laundry loads, we worked out it's about 5p per cloth nappy use. It's actually not a money saver (at least, compared to Lidl nappies), it's just to avoid the 'disposable' lifestyle!0 -
For Newborn we used Aldi - they were only about 80p for a pack of about 70.
Once he was a little older (roughly 6 months) we used Asda Little Angels, and they very rarely leak!0 -
Another vote for Aldi0

Thanks for the answers to this, Aldi is working a charm for both my little ones! And actually really enjoying doing bigger shops there as well! Thank you!!!0
