First Direct will be raising their rates on Monday but if you are an existing customer and are just after a rates change then you can lock in the current rates by calling up Sunday and booking it in.

Current rates before rise:

Some hefty jumps, but especially on the 2y deals +0.68. 5y +0.48 and 10y +0.14 (60% LTV bands).

People are saying swap rates are coming down, but the banks seem to disagree?

From the conversation I had with a Mortgage advisor from the First Direct team, It seems that they raised the rates to reduce the demand, as they were one of the cheapest and the staff were overworked.

I was going to fix but looks like will ride it out with variable 0.23% above base rate after current 1.64% end in February.

They still look like fairly competitive rates compared to some offerings!

Natwest raising 2y fix by another 0.05 tomorrow and cutting some 5y fixes by the same amount.
