my complaint is that some cards don't allow you to have a discount they are offering to someone else with the same account.  Like Sainsburys.  My OH & I have an account but we have different cards.  He gets sent vouchers but I don't.  He doesn't use vouchers but I do.  Sainsburys isn't happy if we switch cards as they don't like it if he is using Betty's card and I'm using Al's.  So I as the secondary card holder is discriminated against.  I've asked to have the account changed and been told it can't be done and then I've been told it will be done but a couple of years down the road nothing has changed.

I also dislike having to cart around a suitcase full of cards so that I'm not too disadvantaged when I drop into some random shop.  I do have a couple of apps on my phone but there's only so much space so I've had to NOT add others so that the phone will still function.  (not helped by the fact that half the stores in our area admittedly have no wifi so the phone app is useless anyway).
Are you referring to physical cards?  If so, how does Sainsbury's know who is actually using which card?  I've never had a card inspected to ensure that it is mine and not that of another person.

Slightly getting off topic as it's the use of cards......or data mining tools.........that they are making discriminatory.

Unless you are prevented from accessing lower prices based on age, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, or disability, it's not remotely discriminatory.

You can decide whether you want to take advantage of lower prices or not by using a card or loyalty scheme.

So I as the secondary card holder is discriminated against.

No you are not. It's the ACCOUNT that gets the voucher not the card. They go to your OH as the account is in their name.

We have one account and two cards but strangely they have different numbers. Like @Brie, any vouchers get sent to my DH with his name and account number on it.

I suppose it is possible that we have two linked accounts but we've had them so long I can't remember when we first applied. All I know is that the same nectar points show on the account.

I had thought of asking at Customer Services in Sainsburys if it was OK to use vouchers and cards with different numbers but CBA to queue behind people buying lottery tickets and fags.

Instead I borrow DH's card when needed but would rather not.

To get back to OP's question, discriminatory probably isn't the right word. Everyone has to buy food so the supermarkets are desperate to attract customers to choose them. They hope that using a loss leader like ' Clubcard Price ' or similar will encourage you to do your main shop there. t's just another hoop to jump through.

Savvy shoppers will go for the best value, provided they have time to do a little bit of research and shopping around.

I've just been sent vouchers for Tesco. The best one is 15% off a £40 shop. I'm very unlikely to use it though as I'm still confident that doing 90+% of my shop in Aldi is better value.

don't waste you time trying to ask at customer service.  they either won't know (& so won't let you) or they will now (& not let you).
