Equity award through ISO (US company, UK employee)

in Cutting tax
Hello,
I have recently joined a US company as a UK employee and am employed through their UK subsidiary.
They have offered me equity via ISOs but I gather that there are more tax efficient ways of receiving equity pay-outs, such as EMI and CSOPs. Source: https://www.rsmuk.com/insights/advisory/common-mistakes-us-businesses-make-when-setting-up-in-the-uk/stock-options
Wondering if my understanding is correct and whether I have any control over how this is treated from a tax perspective. Do I need to try and convince my employer to change the way in which they award equity?
Thanks in advance!
