Has toaster manufacturers gone backwards

What's up with toasters today I use to work in electrical retail a very long time ago and never come across this problem of the toaster not being deep enough. Last week I got myself a new toaster only to find out that the slot doesn't go down deep enough so you have bread sticking out obviously not toasted. Turning the bread sideways is hit and miss as it gets stuck so the bread doesn't go down when you push the lever down. My bread if choice is Kingsmill medium.

It’s been a problem for as long as I can remember. I’ve seen it on here quite a few times over the years.I have a Kitchenaid toaster which I don’t have that problem with but before when I have purchased toasters, I always read the reviews to see if anyone had said that the bread didn’t fit and the majority did say that.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I have now learnt my lesson to actually read reviews on toasters lol I read the description saying wide slots ideal for thicker items so naturally thought it would be a good toaster.sarah1972 said:It’s been a problem for as long as I can remember. Sadly that doesn't help as I said it's hit and miss as it gets stuck.born_again said:Always put bread in sideways....
What I have managed to do is to toast it for about 20 seconds so the bread shrinks a little bit then I can put it in sideways. Definitely not ideal as I don't want to be standing and waiting.0 -
Any suggestions on a toaster would be great not too expensive though 👍0

I like using the gas stove. Highly recommend it1

Ive never understood why toaster manufacturers and bread makers cannot get there heads together . Imagine if wheel manufacturers and tyre manufacturers didn't talk to each other !2

Three problems here: 1: No Gas in this town 2: I haven't got a cooker 3: I haven't got a cooker.toby3210 said:I like using the gas stove. Highly recommend it
I thought repeating 2 was justified 😂
I have been putting off buying a cooker, was going to get one last year then electricity went up. I think it’s time to buy one now.0 -
Dualit or Kitchenaid but we all have different ideas of not too expensive though, personally I would rather buy one that lasts years and works well. I love my Kitchenaid one as it has a toastie sarnie holder too so I use it a lot for that x_Jem_ said:Any suggestions on a toaster would be great not too expensive though 👍I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I have to say the toasters i have bought in the past have been about £40 and have lasted a very long time and has always toasted properly. The last time when i brought one was back when Comet was still around.sarah1972 said:
