"Surplus Income" Q

Thank you all for your responses.
I apologise for waiting so long to update the thread; Unfortunately my Father just died (1st Nov 23).
His health deteriorated somewhat in the build-up to that though when the end came, he died peacefully in hospital and in comfort.

At 90 years old he has not been in the greatest of physical health for some years.
But he was mentally capable right up to the end (as his doctors indicated on their final notes).
I was managing his affairs on his behalf because some things, or too many things, caused him to become anxious that he might not have finished some things he should have or left them unfinished for my Mother.
In this way I could continue to re-assure him that he had nothing to worry about and that everything was being done for him.
While my Brother and I held recorded and registered PoA's for both parents, we have not felt the need to enacted either as yet.
My Mother is still with us, is also 90, and in much better fettle than he, so I have it in my mind that may change later.

I am now in the process or winding up my Father's affairs on behalf of my Mother, and undertake that for similar reasons.
I have a question about that now, though not really a related continuation so I will start a new thread for it.
