A New Beginning

Options
I've been AWOL for a while and now seems the right time to start a new diary.

A brief history - we moved to our forever home in 2021. Twelve months after moving in, I discovered that the children and I had been betrayed in the worst way possible. My marriage ended overnight and I was suddenly a single mum with a huge mortgage, bringing up 3 children, working part time, and running 3 businesses.

I went off the rails a bit in terms of spending in order to remove every trace of him from the house and to have days out and experiences that we couldn't do when he was here. I've also made big investments into my businesses that hopefully will pay off in the long run. In the short term, I'm just about making ends meet and trying not to drown in the debt we've been left with:

CC: £4,140.40
Loan: £13,670.80
Loan 2: £5,000 (approx - I need to find log in details)

I've been struggling on and off with my mental health but I am trying to get focused, get my affairs in order, and look at the positives. My parents have been a huge support and I am dating someone new who is my biggest cheerleader and makes me realise how much rubbish I put up with for 18 years.

I'm starting a new diary to keep me accountable. Moving house again is not an option so I need to make sure I'm being financially responsible but also looking after myself so that I can put my all into making the businesses a success and increasing my income as much as possible.

Thank you all. The last seven months have been really difficult but we're coming out the other side now and I'm determined that things will get better.

I've had some time off work recently but am due to go back in another week so I need to get myself organised. I need to get back in the habit of meal planning, batch cooking, sticking to a cleaning rota, as well as finding time to run my 3 businesses. Oh, and I forgot to mention the animals - currently a dog, chickens, sheep, and pigs. They don't take a huge amount of looking after (although the dog often misbehaves!), I just need to plan.

Today was food shop day and I also needed animal feed. I went out with £120 in my purse with the hope of being able to pay for it all in cash. I managed it, and came home with over £25 left in my purse. Only problem was the farm shop didn't have pig feed so I'll need to get that another day. The nearest shops are 20 mins away so I'll try to tie it in with another journey.

OH is away this week and I'm missing him already. We don't live together and I only see him a couple of times most weeks, but I'm finding it hard knowing he's so far away. I've been a bit down in the dumps today and it's scared me a little but that I've become reliant on him for my own happiness. I know I need to take some time out for me, work on my own self-worth & confidence and just be happy in my own skin.

    Jobs for this week are:
    • Changeovers for my accommodation business
    • Complete a large order for my craft business
    • Complete 2 home produce orders
    • Make cake for DC2s birthday
    • Pull up ragwort
    • Measure materials needed for new pig house & chicken coop repairs
    • Blitz the house before I go back to work

    Plans for self-care:
    • Take daily vitamins
    • Increase water intake
    • Eat regular meals & cut down snacking
    • Exercise at least 3 times this week
    • Skincare routine
    • Read a book

Today has been a better day. I have:
    • Done changeover
    • Started pulling up ragwort (until the heavens opened)
    • Measured up for materials
    • Cleaned & tidied lounge
    • Eaten 3 meals
    • Read some of my book
I've also taken 2 orders for craft business so need to prioritise getting items made tomorrow.
