Pre employment checks

Options
Hi wonder if someone can help me .I applied for a prison officer job role. I completed it to my best of knowledge and input any cautions/convictions I had even when I was under 18 .  I received a letter say my checks where unsuccessful even though I disclosed everything on the form. I then asked for the reason. Unfortunately I read the letter wrong and provided them with the wrong information and an appeal letter. They came back to say its still upheld and the application cannot pursue.  I emailed back to say there is a major confusion and I hVe sent the wrong info. However the reasons why have rejected my application for was for the exact same things I already disclosed on my form when you have to declare any offences. So I am not sure why they are still holding me back due to a thing that happen in 2006 (age 14) and 2016 ,2018 all I have provided evidence an non was my fault .the complaints team are now looking into this and I hope they take it into Consideration,  but what are the chances.  I am far from a criminal I have mot assaulted anyone .

What we're the things that happened in 2016 and 2018, I know the prison service are fairly strict on any non motoring offences

The thing is I declared everything. I think what screwed me up was when they sent me a letter saying "a search was done on my name an found caution/offence" . I assumed they meant an actually physical body search was done on me . So I went around police stations an solicitors finding out when did I ever get searched physically . When I sent them the response and my appeal letter . They came back with
The reason it's been rejected because
2016- failed to report a accident to the police . (Third party tried to put a claim against my name however I still ended up with a charge and third party got found guilty of using family members as witnessed to claim against me so it got chucked out the window but my charge didn't move)
2018 public order  I was just verbally telling a bunch of people to move from my house before it got serious .

I have provided reasons that these where not my fault ,

It does not matter if you deem them "not my fault", they are legally on your record, so you cannot explain them away. The employer goes on the record, not on what you tell them.

Good for being honest about what your record is.  However that honesty does not remove the fact that legal processes seem to have found you were in some way at fault back in 2016 and 2018.

What was it about the prison service that made you want to work for them?  What skills would you bring?

Declaring a conviction doesn't mean it won't be taken into account when considering the suitability of the applicant.  It would seem that the conviction was enough for the employer to deem the OP unacceptable.

Ultimately though, unless it amounts to unlawful discrimination, an employer can set whatever criteria they like in deciding whether to employ someone.

Although some convictions become spent and cannot lawfully be taken into account for many employment purposes, a whole list of types of employers almost certainly including the prison service, are exempt from this.

I am not clear from your post it you do actually have any convictions / cautions or not? I read your OP to say that you do but your later post could be read as you saying that you don't?
