Hello!
am currently waiting to exchange and had Natwest mortgage offer on 23/06.

I’ve had an email today from my credit card company saying my credit limit will double if agreed by 17th august. I am not using my credit card at all now between offer and completion as don’t want to jeopardise anything, so should I reject the increase? The only reason I would’ve accepted it would be because it would then lower the percentage of credit I’m using as this card has a balance on it, but unsure what to do!

I'm not an expert on this, but I would think that the credit limit itself wouldn't cause an issue, as that's your theoretical approved borrowing.

It would be how much the balances are in those credit facilities, and your credit utilization, i.e. how many % of it you're using, that might raise flags. E.g. if you were close to maxing out your credit, and then quickly maxed out the new limit, that seems to me like it might indicate an issue.

But in OP's case, where they're not going to increase their balance, it doesn't seem likely to be an issue to me.

I keep reading that it's very rare for mortgages to be pulled between exchange and completion, but do understand it can be a big source of worry!
