AS above, be wary that suggesting cuts is likely to be unpopular with your coworkers who might well struggle to manage if their wages were cut.

It is possible to vary a contract - I recall that in a previous recession, when my firm was having to look at potential redundancies, this was something that was looked at , as of course if salary costs could be cut by some staff cutting their hours it reduced the risks of / numbers of redundancies. There ere people who chose to reduce their hours - as I recall , there was a formal agreement with those who did that in the event that they were made redundant within 12 months  their redundancy pay would be calculated on their full time hours (so people who were willing to reduce hours to help out were not disadvantaged)

But it's really something for your employer to suggest, rather than you.

Of course, if you *personally* would be happy to cut your hours and pay then there is nothing to stop you raising it with your boss and suggesting a short term variation of your own contract, but unless you would be happy for it to be a permanent change, make sure that you do have  it in writing and a firm end date, an potentially something to state that in the event of any redundancies you will be considered in your normal, full time role and that any redundancy pay would be calculated based on full time pay,.

I'd wait and see, if the boss isn't worrying then he is probably cash rich and seeing how things go
