Does anyone have any recommendations on how to buff up this pair of leather shoes?

It will dye the leather, not like a wax polish at all. You apply with a cloth and let it soak in.

I;d also go parade gloss polish. Apply, buff, apply, buff, shine.
Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...

Are they suede / nubuck shoes? If so you'll struggle to get a shine on them, and the parade gloss (or a paste / waxy polish) will wreck the finish.

If they're suede, I'd use something like this: Kiwi Suede and Nubuck Renovator Shoe Polish, 200 ml https://amzn.eu/d/0M01jU9

You'll also need a suede brush (if you don't have one already)

Good point...I can't tell if they're worn leather or suede but they do look more suedey the more I look at them..

Was assuming they are nubuck too, a short cut form of suede. It could be waxed or not.

The ventilation holes may suggest the cost of product will exceed the shoes value

To add, I think some shoe trees would also be a good idea as they're a bit mishapen.

    that's maybe for,

Those need a podiatrist/orthotics (and beffer fitting footwear in the first place)

    +1 to this.

Several years ago, surgery was available on NHS in my area.
But as they are cutting more and more 'cosmetic' procedures, it may not be for much longer.

    Re the shoes:
could be suede or nubuck or even leather as the OP describes.
They do look like inexpensive shoes in a poor condition and may not be worth trying to 'buff' them up.
