Grandparents NI top up

Options
I look after my grandson and so does his other nan. I need 2 years to top uo my NI contributions for my pension. If I claim in retrospect (up until last April) could his other nan make a claim in the future if she needs to top up.
I've read that only one person can claim but wasn't sure if that meant at the same time.

It is purely at the same time.  You can each claim part of the same year as long as you don't both claim the same period.  You should only claim for each week you are actually looking after the child, not a blanket year although no one seems to actually check / bother.
