I see on the HMRC portal you can tell them what you will earn in this current tax year, but I do a self assessment telling paye, dividends bank interest etc, if I add dividends to the portal will they tax me what tax I am forcasted to pay or change my tax codes?

    Presumably so yes.

If you prefer not to pay earlier than you have to then just stick to updating your expected PAYE earnings.

Don't forge my when you complete your Self Assessment return there is a question about whether you want to use the info from your tax return to keep your tax code upto date.  Make you answer that which ever way suits you when the time comes.

Thanks, says you can add extra income (like divs/interest etc) but I dont want my tax code changed and pay it through paye instead of self assessment....

Then don't add it.  But do remember to include on your Self Assessment return 😜
