Cca request

Hi all, looking for some advice from all you helpful people. I have a default from 2019 from a company who is no liquidated. I haven't paid anything to this debt for about 3-4 years but have now started receiving emails from ACI regarding this debt. At the moment I'm in a self managed DMP with nothing left at the end of the month to pay anyone else. One of my debts is due to drop off in September so I can use that payment towards this one but my question is, is it worth doing a cca request on it? If so can this be done by email or does it have to be a letter? Thanks x

i think the perceived wisdom is to ignore emails & texts and wait until they start writing, then write back requesting CCA, i think you have to send them £1 (not sure why). Hopefully they wont be able to supply a cca so just ignore them until if they do. Try and drag it out for at least 6 years since your last payment and it becomes statute barred.1

A CCA request is a procedure with a £1 statutory payment, (usually a postal order left blank) and it is one of your statutory rights under the consumer credit act.
It must be done in writing, using the National Debtline standard template letter, available here -

ACI will have bought your original creditors loans book, and as that creditor is no longer trading, it would likely be an impossible task to recover any compliant paperwork, but we will see.
