Opos but the debt isn’t mine

Hi, 
I’ve had a lot of contact from Opos where they are now harassing me for a water bill with South Staffordshire Water. I’ve never had a bill with South Staffordshire Water, and there’s nothing on my credit file ever showing an account or outstanding debt with them.  I’ve contact Opos and the ‘debt’ was passed along on 29th April 2023. I’ve never had an account or a bill with that water company. 

I can’t get hold of South Staffordshire Water through phone, queries or messenger. I’ve tried to click forgotten password on South Staffordshire Waters website to see if it was possible someone else used my email address, but my email doesn’t exist in their records.

what do I do?

Send Opos a "prove it" letter.  Likewise you could post something to SSW as well.  Basically "prove to me that I had a contract with you and that I owe you money otherwise stop harassing me."

Just an update- 
I contacted SSW, and it has been confirmed that the bill is in my name, at an old address where 1- I wasn’t the homeowner, and 2- I never had any bill responsibilities at this address. 3- from the dates of the outstanding bill, I had moved out. 

This is currently under investigation with Opos and SSW, as it’s now considered fraudulent by a family member.
