Assuming you mean a black cab from the rank no more than about £20, it does depend on traffic levels.1

Alternatively, the 205 bus goes from King's Cross (stand R) and stops outside Paddington Station.
Obviously slower (about 20 minutes) but much cheaper and you don't have to stand in a long queue at the taxi rank.1 -
Or the tube which would probably be faster than a taxi or a bus - Hammersmith and City or Circle line towards Hammersmith. There are lifts at both Kings Coss and Paddington (which is not true for most tube stations).

Not all tube stations have lifts, but more than 30% do (with more coming). The majority of the big railway terminal stations in London do have lifts from train to tubemartindow said:Or the tube which would probably be faster than a taxi or a bus - Hammersmith and City or Circle line towards Hammersmith. The taxi fare will depend entirely on the level of traffic on Marylebone Road. We had the misfortune of being stuck in traffic due to disruption in London on a Monday morning, the taxi meter keeps going and we arrived at St Pancras, across the road from Kings Cross, with no change from £50!0
