Compulsory Strike-Off First Notice

Hi,
Somewhere I worked until recently are now almost 3 years late with filing their business accounts and there has been a compulsory strike-off notice published in the Gazette. The owner is someone I’ve known many years and I have asked if I can do anything to help but maybe they’re embarrassed or have their head in the sand as they’ve not replied. I am concerned they will lose what they have worked their entire life for as I’ve read the Crown can take the business assets.

I have left some of my equipment there as I was planning on returning to do occasional work there but I’m now planning on collecting that. What happens if the company is struck off? Will the Crown send people to physically remove assets? If they’ve not filed business accounts does that mean they’ve not paid any tax due and they’ll need to bring everything up to date if they have any hope in stopping the strike-off? I think it’s a mix of ill health, disorganisation and denial that has led to this but if they won’t help themselves, I can’t see how I can help… I know it’s not my problem but that doesn’t stop me caring.

Thanks.

Unless you're an accountant, then there isn't likely to be much you can do if the problem is late filing of accounts.

Maybe the owner wants the company struck off? Or it might be the wake-up call they need...

I think you need to leave it to the owner to deal with this, however good your intentions are.

Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Thank you for your replies. I agree, I need to leave it to the owner to resolve things. The good thing is the status has now updated to compulsory strike off action has been suspended so hopefully the owner is in the process of sorting things out.

    Thanks again.
