Old debt - neither creditor can find me?!

Hiya!
im trying to pay off everything I owe - so far so good, I’ve got about 800 quid left!
I’ve got a debt showing from Intrum for £290. I’ve been on the phone to Intrum for about 4 days who have said it was passed to credit security limited… again, been on the phone to them who have said it’s an archived account and it’s back with Intrum.. and a cycle has started.
I’ve got no idea where to start with clearing this as no one wants to take my payment or has an active account for me on their systems 😩
I’ve tried the original creditor who won’t take it either…
any advice??!

Nothing you can do if the debts owner is not in contact with you.
Sold on, defaulted old debts live in a twilight zone all of their own.
They have been sold on so many times, its difficult to establish ownership, unless that owner is currently collecting that account.
If its not been chased, I really would not bother.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. According to Experian but I don’t know how that’s possible when that company are saying it’s archived and they can’t do anything but add notes 😩
