Partnership tax return - expenses (taxfiler)

Good evening

We are a small partnership (software development) and have always been using taxfiler for our uncomplicated online tax returns (no VAT, cash basis).
We only had a few thousand pounds of income for tax year 2023, but this time we want to include our expenses (something we had never done before).

The question is which input fields of taxfiler's SA800 form are suitable for which expenses?
(some assignments seem to be quite obvious, but we want to be sure)

Our expenses for last tax year were:
• £567.30 Software subscriptions
• £151.00 taxfiler tax returns for 2022 (3x SA100 + 1x SA800)
• £79.00 Development & Online Marketing platform membership
• £187.59 Website hosting
• £84.00 Business bank account fees
• £962.00 Working from home Simplified expenses (4 partners)

Suitable fields in taxfiler's expenses section are:
• Cost of sales
• Other direct costs
• Premises costs
• General administrative expenses
• Advertising, promotional and entertainment
• Interest and alternative finance payments
• Other finance charges
• Other expenses including partnership charges

We really would appreciate if someone could tell us where to enter what!

Many thanks!

    You cannot claim for 2.

There could be an argument that the £79 membership fee goes into Legal and Professional - not a big issue.

Many thanks for the quick reply!

re 2: You mean one cannot claim for taxfiler costs at all?

re 3: The £79 are for Apple Developer Membership, so I guess it's more Professional then?

If your annual turnover is under £85,000 (and it must be or you would need to register for VAT), you only need to complete boxes 3.24 to 3.26 (turnover, expenses, net profit).

I would claim the SA800 cost of taxfiler as part of the allowable expenses figure, but SA100 personal tax returns are not a partnership expense.

    Thank you!

I didn't know this. From where is this information? (It's not in the taxfiler online help.)

    > I would claim the SA800 cost of taxfiler as part of the allowable expenses figure

OK, as part of the sum for box 3.25 (as we don't need to break it down in details), but if we would need, then the SA800 would belong to "Other expenses including partnership charges"?

It's definitely mentioned in the notes for last year's partnership return.

if your annual turnover was below £85,000 (or would have been if you had traded for a whole year), give details of income and total expenses and work out the partnership’s taxable profit in boxes 3.24 to 3.26 (except if you’re within the Managing Serious Defaulters (MSD) programme)
