So it's been years. So much so my old diary is closed, shut up like a long forgotten relic. The baby I last had is almost 12 😱. I still have debts but great things have happened. Such as I have paid off our mortgage, then moved home and still have no mortgage! I haven't been in my OD for years. I have a job I adore which pays almost minimum wage, it's highly stressful and some of my own wage goes back into work, I do lots of unpaid overtime but the holidays and pension is a nice payback. 😉
Downside I'm about to saddle myself with 21k of student debt at 45 .😱
Enough of the emojis. I added up my debts again £450 very, could come down as awaiting a return or two. Loan £1258.
Greenhouse £113, Tesco cc £1085 and shearlings holidays £528.00. Total £3433.94. Im going to see if I can pay this off before January. This means £686 pm.
Yeah mad dogs and hedgehogs, I'm balmy enough to try it!

So this week I cancelled my washing machine appliance protection, I can afford to buy one again should this cost too much to repair, I was spending about £90 a year. Gardeners world was a crazy offer 6 months for £10 plus free seeds and 2 for 1 gardens entry. Renews at £28. I also cancelled prime and music £13.99 so far none of the smelly tall teens have come to see me to ask, even when they have run out of noodles.
Zero spends this week nothing. Not planning on doing anything out, out or even just out, however if we do I'll use our NH card and take a pack up and Thermos. Scored a free book at book swap. Lost my kindle fire somewhere in the house, racked up 10 hours of paid overtime (need to put all overtime aside as I do not get paid in August) Thankfully my contract has changed so next year I will. Made lunches last week from pasta pesto, home grown potatoes and chives, some cheap carrots and home grown strawberries. However vegetable casserole wasn't popular so I blended into a Dahl 3 days later and it was much better received. Mum does try to make them eat healthy! Ttfn!Compers challenge 27/70

Having a lazy morning, still in bed at 8.30! We did have a last minute plan to go to a literacy festival but the youngest and his friend didn't want to go, despite a zip wire. Shame as there's an author I'd love to see, on the plus side money saved I guess.
Paid off greenhouse 😍

I didn't do any creative writing, look for surveys or do a jigsaw. I decided to look through my fabric stash to make some dungerees for this coming cool seasons. Lots of work and cost me about £6 to make (I used a new pattern) will reuse obviously. Fit wasn't so good and had to add an extra panel so not sure what I did wrong, but it kept me happy most of the weekend.
Cleaned out school chickens (I get to keep the eggs)
Spent £2.70 on a local festival, the teens love it, free food and drink samples and free live music. Son bought two water bottles and a big lolly, we only live two minutes walk away he could have got tap water!
Also to the neighborhood amusement and shock we had 130 houses without power. I got a phonecall from a neighbour asking me to check her gardener "wasn't dead" as she asked him to cut trees but knew and had pointed out the power cable several times. Next thing she gets a call from national grid to say that the power was out but it wasn't a planned one. So I walked round there, he wasn't dead , he told me himself 😂 but there was a rather lovely sparking live cable on the floor. National grid chaps where superb with the children in the neighborhood showing them all the tools for hours whilst waiting for other equipment to turn up. What lovely chaps they where.
All in all a lovely productive and slighty unusual weekend. Hope we all have a great Monday 🙏Compers challenge 27/70

Hi @mummy2threeboys
Welcome back to the boards. You sound like you've got yourself in a good position. I've just started tackling my debt properly and am using the diaries to keep myself motivated. It really helps.
Good luck with your student journey - I assume you're starting in September. What a fabulous step you are taking. Will this be part time study while you still work?
Oh, and I am glad the gardener wasn't dead.My Debt Free journey - started 1 May 2023. Goal date October 2026 ACHIEVED SEPTEMBER 2025
Total Debt paid off: £28006.30
Savings £6621 -
Hi Spinayarn. Yes I'm going to be working as well, it's with OU. Best way for me I think. It's going to take sometime, but we all need goals and dreams! I hope your managing to see some way forward. I've been in debt for 25 years (that's not including the mortgage!)
So greenhouse paid off, shearings holiday paid off £158.00 off very (I forgot I'd paid the greenhouse money out of my £686 self goal so I've actually over paid down debts)
£140 in saving for no wage August (should be higher but they messed my ot wage up).
22 hrs or banked this month.
Finished year 3 of ten year crochet blanket. Now I'm only 4 squares behind and I'm caught up. Finished a book "The boy in the striped pajamas" sadly and bizarrely I choose another book titled "The end of her" I think I'm only 3 books off them all fitting back on my bookshelf instead of the floor.
Double batch cooking mince as I have it twice this week, this will save a little electric. Also we are much more aware in this house just how much our electric shower costs to run.
I'm dealing with something unsettling at thf moment and I'm not really in a good mental place as in my head's not were it should be. The inevitable end, should be a realise for all concerned.
Very £267.18 (should be less as I returned three items today)
Loan £1258
Tesco cc £1085
Debt £2610.18
£823.75 reduced this month woot!
Apart from £15 on Avon (spot creams and anti dandruff for the three teens) and £2.70 for the other days food festival. I've not had a spend day in a few weeks.
They are still not missing the Amazon!
Blessings to all xx

Thanks Enthusiasticsaver!
All bills paid and I still have £642 in my bank £540+ in two savings accounts for no wage summer and holiday money. £150 has been paid to Tesco cc and I've been agreed another 0% cc no fee so I can transfer that money over. I had one spend over the weekend of an almond croissant. Had a really busy weekend and got a lot of chores, organising and sewing finished as well, I have a new top, dungerees and a dress made for minimal money as I've been fortunate enough to be gifted lots of material.
Busy busy few weeks end of term for both work and three sons to organise, eek. Have a good day all.Compers challenge 27/70

So last week of term. Work made a mistake and apparently I'm now getting paid in the holidays. I'll believe it when I see it!
Went to a bootfair and bought a large bag of craft bits for £5 and an Acer sapling for £1.
Entered the school into a few sections of the Garden society club, I (er they) came out with 2 First prizes and two of the children one first prizes!
My hair and face oil has run out I was spending £12 every two months, I've swapped to Poundland argan oil and see no difference, an annual saving of £66. Thanks very much.
Zero fall out about not having Amazon prime. All happy to watch the "Free channels" and hubby now pays for the sports channels (we sort of pay 50/50 normally) then I told him the price he said, well I'll pay that because it's for me anyway. £400 annual saving for me.
Thought I'd try the 50:20:30 method. Seems very do-able.
I have to locate cheaper pet insurance, it's over doubled this year. Bet I get a cheaper quote even with the same company if I cancel.
Debt was £3434, debt now £2343 savings £656. Really pleased with that.
Ttfn and hope you have a great week!Compers challenge 27/70
