I've posted this on another forum but thought I'd do the same here

I took out an EE contract around end of 2021 to the begining of 2022, unfortunately my dad passed away in may 2022 and I was struggling mentally and shut myself off to the world, including resigning from my job as things were getting to much for me, I also moved back to my mum's as she was also struggling, this has lead me to forget about a few bills I had and EE being one of them.

Not sure how but they have my mum's address and have sent a letter stating notice of action, advising they have been instructed for legal proceedings unless I pay the full amount.

I'm unsure what to do as I've never received such letter like this before and the amount they're asking seems to be a lot more then I remember. Like a lot more. At the moment I'm still unemployed but I have been successful in a position within the financial sector starting 10th July and have nothing to give until my first pay day around end of July and I'm unsure what to do.

Apologies for the long post, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Soks

Is this a standard pre-action letter with 30-day reply form?

If so, Google 'debt camel pre-action' for how to respond.

If not, then there's no urgency. Get some income coming in, save a fighting fund and look at your options then

The amount they are demanding will be the full term contract amount, plus termination charges, VAT etc.

I wouldn`t worry, its a non priority debt, and you don`t have any money, so what can they do ?

Overdale`s are Lowell`s legal arm, so it looks like Lowell have bought your debt.
If its an LBA, then follow the advice above, Debt Camel will guide you.

If not, once your earning again, and only then, you can contact whoever is writing to you to set up a payment plan, if you want too.

You will probably be getting a court claim but this will slow things down.

Being a mobile phone debt they have bought for next to nothing, they may not have any paperwork that links you to this debt. I have known Lowell to give up once challenged.
