ASLEF overtime ban 3rd - 8th July

Good afternoon,
I have rail tickets for a long journey in the above week. North West to the Kent coast. I'm not of an age or temperament to hang about on rail stations in hope of a train and battle it out for a seat etc. My view is an overtime ban is worse than a full strike - at least with a strike you know what the deal is! I'm interested in the thoughts of experienced rail users (or staff).I don't have to travel - it's not vital, but will be disappointing. Thanks for reading.
