Cheap glasses with light/thin lenses with strong prescription (+6.50)?

Hi,
does anyone know where to get cheap-ish glasses when I have strong prescription?
I'm very short sighted (+6.50) so need the lighter/thinner lenses. The trouble is I can get frames for like £20 and but the lighter lenses are another £60+ on top, which is quite expensive (I'd like 2 pairs - pair of normal glasses and pair of sunglasses so spending almost £200 is a lot). I'm not entitled to NHS glasses so have to pay the full cost myself. They make it sound like lighter lenses are a luxury but when you have to wear glasses all the time, comfort is important. I've worn badly fitting heavy glasses in the past as I had no other option and it wasn't nice.
I had a look at few places online, but none do high prescription glasses (not seen any that will do prescription above +6.00) so I'm stuck with 'brick and mortar' opticians. Before anyone suggests it, laser eye treatment is not something I can afford either (wish I could).
Thanks for all replies.

Hello @Yorkie006 I googled "buy prescription glasses online" and there are quite a few places which do high prescription. Not sure if I can name them though keeping to forum rules.
I've had mixed results when I last purchased glasses online and although it saves money, it is still expensive and you don't get the opticians fitting and adjustments, which is sometimes useful.
Like you I think the lighter/ thinner lenses are worthwhile as they are more comfortable but that comes at a cost!
I think you'll find it hard to find two pairs of glasses and sunglasses for £200 but worth having a look on some of the sites, choosing frames and entering prescription to see the cost. Some of the sites will give you a discount code or they have special offers.
I paid £184 for two pairs of glasses last time but that was about a year and a half ago.0 -
I find Asda are really good and they thin down the lenses0
