Fridge / freezer running costs

Hi Everyone,
We’re looking to buy a fridge freezer, if you go to the curry’s website it tells you how much you can save over the lifetime of the appliance compared with others, obviously the ones that cost less to run are lore expensive in the first place, so if it doesn’t last as long as it should, your paying extra for very little. We have solar panels, so that helps, maybe I’ll add a batteries and go for a cheaper fridge / freezer? Thoughts any one?

Personally, I think this is best value for the cost + running costs. I also reckon that if you've got solar panels, use 22p as your average running cost per kWh. That helps a bit too
I'm personally not fond of Samsung / LG either

Equally for American fridge freezers, the Samsung ones that are C rated are reasonably priced but I don't personally rate Samsung as a brand for appliances
I'd personally go for a B rated regular fridge freezer OR an E rated American fridge freezer given that the D rated ones don't provide that much storage
I'm also waiting for brands as a whole to move upwards without costing too much more. A B rated fridge freezer like the above costs under £800. An A rated one costs around £1600 and it is technically greener but the cost difference vs the money saved on running costs just isn't there. The B rated fridge freezers only use around 25 kWh more a year. Even at £2/kWh that'd be an extra £50 a year. Assuming a 15 year lifespan, that'd be an additional cost of £750 and even with those high prices it STILL wouldn't be worth getting an A rated one because the A rated ones cost a lot more
In reality, the A rated one will maybe cost you £75 more over 15 years in running costs. Imo it isn't worth the expense to spend double the amount for little gain
I've got an E rated American fridge freezer so far1 -
Thanks for that. The wife found one that doesn't have a door on the freezer. (A bit like https://ao.com/product/htr3619fnmp-haier-fridge-freezer-silver-78491-28.aspx) it has pull out draws, they say that this is better because if you have a door and then the draws, when you open the door, you loose the temperature for all the draws, where as if you have individual draws, then you only loose temperature for that draw, apparently a lot of them are like this in the USA. We've just found out that the one she liked is too tall, so the search starts again, I'll look at the actual KwH to see if there is that much difference.
Some of the prices are a bit mad, over £1,000!0 -
As I’m replacing a separate larder fridge and separate larder freezer, the running cost should be less for the single appliance0
