Mortgage application, hard search removed?

Hello,

I've received a mortgage offer from Nationwide which I'm quite happy with, although having woken up today to a notification informing they've removed a hard search from my credit file.
This has left me a bit concerned and I'm unable to find anything concrete as to why this happens.

I've read some mortgage lenders will do this to avoid excessive hard searches accumulating on file, but I'm still a bit concerned and unable to contact them until tomorrow morning.

I was just wondering if anyone has experienced similar, or if this is usual practice?

Thanks in advance,
Adam.

@adam1303 If it's Clearscore alerting you of this, I wouldn't get too worried about it. It might be related to an old Nationwide hard check (perhaps from when you opened a Nationwide current account or credit card in the past). Or it might simply be an error (I often get clients stressed out about Clearscore showing 3 hard checks for one application but somehow it gets magically resolved in a few weeks down to one).

Irrespective of the above, if you've had a full mortgage offer from Nationwide, you're safe on that front. And even in the very very unlikely situation that a lender were to withdraw a full mortgage offer (usually only ever due to suspected application fraud or a material change in the applicant's circumstances) they wouldn't go back and remove the hard-footprint from the full app.

Thank you for your reply - I really appreciate it!
I won't lie, I'm a bit of a control  freak and absolutely hate not knowing what's going on.

I've had a look at equifax, where the search has also disappeared but the earlier search for the initial AIP remains in tact.
I also don't hold any nationwide products, other than what would be the mortgage currently on progress.
There's been no changes in my circumstances, nor anything which could convey any concerns in regards to fraudulent applications, so I'll take it as one of those things which just happen.
It's only recently equifax messed up my address, so I'll put it down to error on their behalf again until I have reason to suspect (or know) otherwise.

Thank you again, helped put my mind at ease!

Slightly different situation but a few years ago I applied for a DIP with Nottingham BS (I think) which was a hard search at the time. The DIP was declined and then they removed the hard search from my file. I then went on and applied with Leeds BS and was approved. I'm guessing they do it to reduce credit searched building up on your file, I wouldn't worry! If it was there before, it has definitely happened.
