Coming back from London was a strange event. The train was packed with passengers from a cancelled train. The catering coach's card reader wasn't working, it ran out of coffee, the loos ran out of paper and it arrived over half an hour late. The upside was that everyone remained cheerful and now get 50% of their fare refunded! My drive back from Glasgow was so lovely, apart from getting out of the city the road was fairly clear, no big lorries and other drivers moving at a good speed. I stopped off for a cheeky takeaway as I hadn't eaten all day. I had taken my uneaten breakfast bagel with me but it ended up being too warm for too long so I ditched it.Today I'll be mostly resting in the back garden.I hope that everyone can also enjoy the sunshine a bit. Happy Friday to all.9

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Your train journey back sounds horrendous. It sounds like there was nothing left that could have gone wrong!
Another scorcher in store here and I never thought I would be saying this but I hope we are among the lucky ones getting some rain this w/e!! It's now over a month since we had any.
I have the pleasure of the Friday Tidy here but it will be a half hearted attempt thanks to the heat. Just a quick flick of the duster and a light trundle of the vac will have to do until the weather breaks. This afternoon will find me in the back garden reading methinks.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies or getting better. I am hoping there will be better news for NAN and family. Take care all and be safe xx

Morning everyone Taff I hope your bump on the head hasn’t caused you to much trouble I know you should be careful with anything to do with your head but I always remember my dad it we fell over and had an egg or a scratch or anything on our head he used to say don’t worry all your brains are in your feet we were never given a lot of sympathy he was once in my garden and I had a hanging basket right next to my washing line started and I had forgotten about it I turned round and I hit my head that hard the hanging basket split it was one of those small hard plastic ones I hung on to the wall and went as white as a sheet I couldn’t move because I could see double and all he said was well your garden will look twice as nice now we couldn’t complain about been spoilt 😂 Gers pleased your home safe what a horrible journey especially in this heat not that I’m complaining about the weather we have waited long enough for it I’m not at work until 12 last one of the week I’m going to sit outside with a cuppa dog has been walked I’ve had a quick dust and hoover I’ve got fish out for me tonight hubby is having sausage will do some little new potatoes and salad. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing9

Well, I had more to do this morning than I thought!
Had a shower, put a wash on, unload the DW, take and submit a meter reading. I showered because the one on the sleeper was only really half good and the hotel didn't have any water yesterday and I was too tired to bother last night! I've also filled up my bottle of water which I have to drink, I didn't have much yesterday on the train because of the lack of paper, and I use proper hankies!
TA - enjoy the sun whilst you can.Rosy - it's such a great for sports, taking a hat is perfect!Taff - watch that head injury, sometimes the slightest knock can be awful.Izzy - don't envy you working in this heat. Drink lots of water.I've got cold Chinese takeaway leftovers for breakfast / brunch. Yum.8 -
Morning all
Another bright beautiful day it’s such a treat, day off for me and I am going shopping with DD to get some bits for my holiday I mainly need t shirts as I just can’t seem to find ones that are not tight round your neck and are long enough in the body and are not see through ! Hopefully I will get some today.
Not sure about dinner tonight but I will go and look in the freezer after this. The wm is doing its thing and will hang the washing on the line once it’s done.
Nan I hope there has been some improvement for you’d DN xx
Taff - ouch you be careful madam xxx
Gers that train journey sounds stressful ! X
Have good day’s all and take care xx9 -
Morning all.. My head is still lumpy and I almost took a painkliller last night but then thought, ah, I cant be bothered to find them ...I'm so lazy..The tree is gone gone gone and we have sky sky sky!!! We keep going out the back to see the sky..The boys that did it did a fantastic job, they were all young, like twenties young, but so hard working, especially in this heat, they didn't stop. I kept them plied with water, coke, ice and wet towels [ the latter took me way too long to think of] and they did say, any more trees? To which I said, NO! [SWEAR PHRASE!] Bless them, they told me they did a job for a woman last week who didn't even give them a drink of water. In this heat? Honestly, I think people in some places think it's Victorian times where servants come in the rear and you give them as little as possible. And they left everything super clean and tidy. Good job Luke and Dans Garden Services is all I can say
Today is potter move stuff around when it isn't stupid hot and sort some stuff for the tip, book a tip run and fetch a new bottom sheet that hopefully fits and is extravagant Egyptian cotton, already ordered and paid for.
Izzy, thank you for your concern. Did we have the same parents? Only mine would have said that as a laugh not seriously...Omg, that must have been a bang to split the plastic! But enjoy any heat coming your way, you have had the cool weather for a lot longer than here.. Rosy, how sad. There was a place locally here where a young boy died, there were still tributes being put there up till recently and it happened sixteen years ago . Not sure that's very healthy myself. Gers, glad you had a nice time in the main, and no judgement for takeaways here...:) TA, it's inevitable, any extrememes will always make complaints...I'll be complaining there's no shade in the garden by next week I bet.. Take care all, shout to the mia, nanny, hope your niece is doing better..Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10 -
Morning all, just lost my post somewhere in the ether, so this is the short version.
DNiece is going for another op this morning as the surgeon wasn't 100% happy with her leg so he will remove some more of it. The good news is that she is off dialysis and her heart and lungs are functioning well.
I sorted the freezers yesterday and now operation " eat from the freezers " must commence as there's more in there than I thought and they need defrosting.
I slept heavily last night and I feel like I'm wading through treacle so I will just potter about today.
taff sorry about missing your head bump incident, hope you're ok and welcome to the Clumsy Clara club ! Happy "no tree - hello sky" day 😀
Gers what a nightmare of a train journey, glad you're home safe.
RosyRed how very sad that a young person lost their life near you, my thoughts go to their family. Enjoy sports day.
Take care all

Morning all from mehefinland. Just a quickie
its scorchio here again. nags don't know if they want to go in or stay out. The flies make their minds up!!
Off to see DS and the toxic troll tomorrow. Friend who is horse mad is looking after the brood. Not really looking forward to travelling or staying away from home. 1st night away in more years than I care to remember, at an expensive hotel. Going to look at some horseboxes en route, so not entirely a wasted journey.
Hugs and spoons as always

@Gers - The second trip I took to England I traveled on the overnight train from Inverness to London. Having a BritRail Pass, I was in first-class. When we got to London, the train was two hours late. When we asked why, it seems that they had stopped the train to search for a bomb due to a threat from the IRA and unloaded all of the other passengers. But they had just moved the first-class car off to the side - and didn't wake us up. Didn't want to disturb the first-class passengers and they figured that the IRA wouldn't have paid for a first-class ticket! I've also been n a train here in the USA where someone robbed the liquor supply and hid it on the train. They were caught when the tried to retrieve it to get off the train. And one trip where someone's ferret got loose and was running around the train. I have also been on numerous late trains here - but they don't refund any of your money, including the trip that was twelve hours late (though the did feed us in the train terminal and a box of Kentucky Fried chicken after we got to California). Some of the trips in the US take three or more days.4
