railcard app is broken

My phone just reported "this app is too old, no longer supported"

Checking  the app , my digital card had gone.

Requesting a new code from website, gets the error "b9e272db"

After waiting 35 mins on hold I was told "it's OK we know about it"

I pointed out it was very far from OK  ....long and the short, they are sending a plastic card .

ABTW.. The app does not allow you to screenshot the card, so many people today will be getting fines on British Rail.

I've got exactly the same problem and can't even get through to customer support.

There is a know issue today which they are fixing, penalty fares are unlikely to be issued as they know it is happening and even if they are they will wave them after.

The app does allow screenshots, at least on Android.

It may be a known issue but they've announced nothing - their website says nothing about a problem, neither do their social media feeds.  and yet it must be stressing out loads of people. Railcard really need to get a grip - if a system fails then at least acknowledge it publicly, and not force people to try to fix it themselves by continually re-trying the app/website/phonelines - whne a simple announcement would at least explain to wait.

Same problem. Our digital cards are gone too. Let's hope that they re-appear once the problems been sorted!

This happened a few years ago and lasted for months.
I had a digital card then, but never again,
    Let's Be Careful Out There
  • I had the same issue yesterday whilst I was travelling. The message I received was "This version of the app is no longer supported" There was no update in the Play Store.
I first tried clearing the cache.
Then deleted the App and reloaded it.
    Then removed device from account.
I have generated a new download code and have attempted to add the rail card again but I just get a pop up message saying "Oops Something went wrong"

So still no Railcard on my primary phone.
I still have one on a backup phone until, of course, that disappears without warning.

That's why I don't rely on a digital railcard. I would like to have physical and digital but, when I applied for my senior railcard just recently, I had to choose between them.

After I saw this thread earlier today I decided to check my own digital Senior Railcard, all working fine on my phone, so either the issue reported has been fixed or it is not affecting all users.
