Not all brokers are equal. Some will basically get you the best deal and key the application for you and get you the offer. Some will be there for any questions that pop up throughout the whole 3-4 month process. Personally I take on less cases so that I can do the 2nd one and give a better service. I will monitor rates and advise moving to a different lender if rates have changed for the better. I will give basic pointers about filling out the legal papers. I will answer all manner of daft questions that come up.
If you are not seeing the benefit and feel that you dont want to pay for a service, just ask what you are getting for your fee and see if it sounds worthwhile to you.
If its a free broker already then really no reason not to use them
If its a broker who works for that estate agent then you might find that an independent broker might give you more confidence in their service. Also an independent broker will be able to give you proper advice on insurance from multiple insurers. Most estate agency based brokers are tied to a single insurer0
