Reduced Hours. Feels Strange.

I went to part time from full time in the NHS when I was 51 five years ago. It’s been so nice to enjoy the green spaces I love more often and when it’s quieter in the week. It’s also helped me prepare for full retirement mode; both in use of time and adjustment to money. Ironically, I also feel more valued at work. As I’m at work less, my time is targeted more toward the things my experience is more suited too (which is also the tasks I like more)

I'd be quite open about it: I needed to have a day during the week when I could be me, do my thing. But I found I needed to do stuff with others, so I joined a walking group.
But where I work, people can be quite open about needing time away from a stressful job.
I never got bored.
No
No, why do you ask?
Not that it's any of your business, but no
No, I'm using that day for my own interestsSignature removed for peace of mind2 -
I worked full time in a huge ftse100, and due to my role (and because I wanted too back then) did evenings and weekends. I never switched off.
Pandemic hit, I quit and volunteered. Then the volunteering tapered off and I took up gardening (something I never did) and after a couple of months, wanted to tax my brain again so I went part time, in a no stress position, when I switch off the lap top I don't think of it till I open it the next time.
I now full my spare time with gardening, meeting friends, I've just started volunteering for rnli so going through training and generally just doing what I want too.
I don't socialise with work colleagues, never have. My work is work and home life completely separate. I love my balance now.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....2
