Christmas Shopping Late REally Pays Off.

I went to Homebase yesterday for the Christmas tree and I needed a pot to put it in. There was one stand left but the box was badly damaged. I took it to Customer Services and asked if everything was there. When she said it was I asked if as the box was in such a state could she let me have a discount on it. She gave it to me for £10, reduced from £12.99. I then bought my Christmas wrapping paper because they had reduced all rolls from £2.99 to 49p and some rolls were 19p. I also got Call of Duty 4 with £10 off (£29.99). Its a true saving because I saw it at Bluewater yesterday for £39.99. Back out today looking for more bargains.
Christmas Shopping Late really pays off.

Excellent savings.
It does pay to shop around, I got a DVD set for someone for £15 cheaper than it was in HMV and bought it through Quidco too so got some cashback.
Bought quite a bit in Boots too on their 3 for 2 offers and one weekend I saved £70 in there as well.

I bought my BF a housecoat last week for £20 from asda, and because I won't be seing him untill after christmas I decided to return it to wait for the sales to kick in a little. I picked up the exact same housecoat, same colour and size for £10 last night in Asda

I certainly hope that late Christmas Shopping pays off, Tes - I will, hopefully, be starting mine tomorrow. :rolleyes:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I always leave mine til the last minute, mainly because I hate shopping, crowds, spending money etc! And the bargains to be had out there are massive, as long as you are prepared to risk it.;)
I have been trying for years to get the kids (older now) to celerbrate christmas in the middle of January....they're not convinced at the moment. But don't worry...I'll wear them down eventually!!:rotfl: :rotfl:Living a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T
