Time statute barred debts

Hi, got several debts that were last paid in May 2017 as part of a DMP. Husband and I moved overseas and have had no contact with them since that payment. We recently returned and a couple are now chasing us. I have checked our credit files and only two of the debts (different companies) are on our credit files, they show as last paid in May 2017 but the default date Aug/Sept. Are these debts statute barred yet please?

It's difficult to be absolutely sure, but it sounds like these debts will not be statute barred until six years after the default date, so Aug/September of this year. You might have a read of the information on this link to see if it helps:

If they are statute barred, then all you can do is ignore any contacts from them and hope that they miss the deadline to start court action. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1 -
Thank you. I have spoken to the Debtline and clarified the default period.tacpot12 said:It's difficult to be absolutely sure, but it sounds like these debts will not be statute barred until six years after the default date, so Aug/September of this year.
