So I earn over 50k and claim child benefit (52k) so I have had to do a self asssesment , I work for nhs but also do some agency nurse practitioner work - I claim the maximum uniform allowance for main job , can I claim uniform for the second job as well ?? Also I had to buy a stethoscope and a few bits can these go down as expenses

I would have thought that if they were essential for your job, then your employer or the agency should either be supplying the stethoscope and 'few bits' or, if they asked you to buy it yourself,  you should be claiming it as expenses from them, not from HMRC

Is it a different uniform for the two jobs, or the same uniform worn in both cases?

It’s a different uniform, I wear nhs one for main job - and then purchased some scrubs off Amazon for second job
  • Is the 52k before or after deducting your NHS pension contributions?
